Overview
Moinho das Pernadas Residency takes place in a restored watermill near the village of Odeleite, in the municipality of Castro Marim, eastern Algarve, Portugal.
Situated within a secluded riverside landscape and surrounded by the quiet rhythms of the Guadiana hinterland, the residency offers uninterrupted time and space for concentration, listening, writing, composing, researching and developing work away from urban environments and institutional schedules.
The programme is open to both emerging and established practitioners working across disciplines, with a particular affinity for sound practices, literature, visual arts, composition, research and small-scale studio work.
Rather than a production-driven residency, Moinho das Pernadas Residency is conceived as a place for continuity, slowness and sustained attention.
The Residency
Residents live and work alone in the mill during their stay. Only one resident is hosted at a time.
The residency is best suited for practices that benefit from solitude, long periods of concentration and relative isolation.
Disciplines
- • Sound art & experimental music
- • Writing & literature
- • Visual arts
- • Research-based practices
- • Film & moving image
- • Interdisciplinary work
